Despite a narrative of “do more with less” and economic headwinds – brought on by geopolitical tensions, market uncertainty, and trade escalations, to name a few – many companies are cutting or reconsidering their costs, to which the ethics and compliance program is not immune. However, in our conversations and work with hundreds of ethics and compliance leaders over the past year, a different picture has emerged. Encouragingly, we’ve seen that companies are increasingly leaning on these leaders and their programs to help them navigate this uncertainty. In its ability to provide guidance and operate programs and controls that reduce risk, the E&C program is demonstrating its value in protecting reputation while also propelling business forward.
